Neko talks about Christmas!
Magandang araw! That's "Good day" in Filipino! I'm Neko, and today we're gonna be talking about the upcoming holiday almost everyone is excited for, Christmas! I say almost everyone since not everybody celebrates Christmas.
Personally, I like Christmas. From the songs to the decorations, everything about it is beautiful! When I was a kid, I would try to be the nicest kid ever to everyone after Halloween. I'd be nice to my sister, who until now I absolutely despise, and I'd avoid any form of fighting. When Christmas morning came, I'd always get what I wanted!
When I was around 6-7 years old, I opened up my stocking and got my first phone! An Ipod Touch 4! Compared to today's phones, it feels very small in your hands, not to mention light. I kept that thing for a few years when I had a very dumb moment on vacation. One thing you should know about me is that I'm very forgetful. I'd sometimes be talking to my friend and suddenly forget their names. I'd just sit there trying to slowly recall it. During that vacation, my family and I went to the beach. I was wearing board shorts then and had my phone in my pocket. You could see where this is going. We decided to go kayaking around and it was actually pretty cool! Very tiring though. While kayaking, we reached a small wooden island that you can jump to. And I did. This is where I did the dumb thing. The others started to paddle away from me, so I jumped into the water and swam to them. Yes. I swam to the kayak, with my phone in my pocket. When we got back to shore, I just realized what happened. Needless to say, my phone was soaked and unusable. I don't even know if the rice bag trick would work here. So that ended the life of my phone, which I replaced one or two years later.
Moving on, how about we talk about the few songs I know. My favorite is definitely "Carol of the Bells." Didn't really sound too much like a Christmas song to me, but I still loved to hear it. The bells in the background were nice along with the multiple heavenly voices singing. The remixes of it seem to make it better. "Sleigh Ride" is another one of my favorites, especially the version sung by Pentatonix. It has a nice beat to dance to and fitting for Christmas parties. Definitely gets you into the Christmas mood, Then there's the most played song in retail songs all around. "All I want from Christmas is You." I kid you not, the moment December comes along, I hear it in every mall I go to. Then again, it's a pretty popular song and it's got a good beat. Though my favorite part of the song is in the beginning part with the piano.
Christmas parties are definitely one of my favorite parts about Christmas. Every school year, the Christmas party is one of the events I look forward to the most. This is for two reasons. Food and presents. Along with classmates and teachers giving everyone gifts, we've got the gift exchange. On one of the years, we had a Secret Santa where we were given a slip of paper with someone's name on it and we had to get a gift for that person. Our teacher then put made us write three things on a piece of paper that we wanted from the Secret Santa. Afterwards, we put them up on our lockers for everyone to see. We've got the usual new basketball, expansion pack for card games, and someone even asked for money. So I bet you're wondering, what did I ask for? I asked for either a deck of cards, an expansion pack for a card game I have, and a cat leash. Now here's the thing. I LOVE cats. they're adorable, fluffy, and I want one. At the time, I did not have a cat. Do you know why I wanted the leash? For no reason at all. I got a cat leash, for no reason at all.
Finally, let's talk about the one thing I don't like about Christmas. The day itself. For some reason, every year on December 25, I'm suddenly sick. The night before, I'd be super healthy! Not a problem in the world! Then on the 25th, my family would start the feast and start eating, and then I'll just puke everything out after half an hour. Then I'd be stuck in the bed for the day. That right there, happened every year since I could remember.
And that's all I've got to say about Christmas! From songs to Christmas parties, there's a lot to enjoy about Christmas! Only a month and a bit more until the day is here, so you all better be good people. I hope you'll all have a good Christmas, from me to you! This is Neko, and I'll see you all later!
